Opel is one of Europe's largest and best-selling car manufacturers and, together with its British sister brand Vauxhall and General Motors, belongs to the French automotive group Groupe PSA.

From the sewing machine to the Corsa

In 1862, Adam Opel decides to go into business for himself - not, however, with the manufacture of vehicles, but sewing machines. It was not until 1898 that the company began producing cars under the leadership of Opel's wife Sophie. In the years that followed, the brand made a name for itself as "Imperial Court Supplier" as well as with motorbike construction and its 'Doctor's Car', and in 1937 it even became Europe's largest car manufacturer for a time. Since then, the brand has won over young and old alike with its many popular models.
